ON OUR WAY TO BE GLOBAL CITIZENS


SAMBURU  NATIONAL PARK SAFARI 22/09/2012-22/09/2012
This was the 22 of sept. we had a safari to Samburu national park  it was a long trip but lovely day where by  it was a day of refreshing our minds  and being happy.we were able to saw different animals like lions. Giraffe. Elephant, Zebras, Pumba ,gazelle ,ostrich, crocodile  .This safari was real amazing to me since I never had a chance to visit the national parks before it was a grate opportunity to me to see the animals in real life not just in the T.V. As used to see them. Thanks to  Action Aid. And get back on Sunday where by our mind were fresh fresh

Conflict management 25/09/2012-26/09/2012
The lesson about  conflict  management where by here we rent about  types conflict and how to manage it in a good way.

Communication
Here we learnt  how does the good communication should be ,the importance  of good communication  and the importance of good communication within the group .that means to use the language which is clear to every one in order to avoid misunderstanding and conflict.

The communication between Sakina and Lidya was not clear so instead Lidya did something different from what Sakina asked her to do and expected at the end of the day  there was conflict between them due to communication breakdown.

ART AT LILY POND 28/09/2012
It’s a place where by there is a man made   pond with lily plants, the activities  from this place it all about arts activities like  drawing ,paints ,and  handcraft but also they teach people about arts mostly in a group way. Here was when everyone among us was an artist on that day ,we learn on how to draw and painting .so we had create a one self. you  have create  some images  to present yourself ,and draw those images at the end of the day we had to paint. It  was fanny and excited because I have never thought in my life if I will ever try to draw and do paintings since I thought I can’t do it but on that day I did it and I tried.
  
JOURNALISM  WORKSHOP AT KCODA(KIBERA) 01/10/2012-02/10/2012
It was all about the knowledge of Journalism ,so we had a chance to learn the issue about journalism and at the end of the day to be able to come out with an articles. Where by the second day we had a chance to do an interview around  Kibera community   depending in which topic did you choose among the groups which we had been divided. Then after the interview we had to make an articles. I was real a good experience came out from it.

ART /CREATIVITY  WORKSHOP AT KUONA TRUST 04/10/2012
It was a place where we went for art /creativity session where by we had to use wires and plastic bags/paper bags to come up with your own piece of art. so we started with wire to make different things like animal, flowers ,trees, cups ,motorcycle ,cars, birds etc. it was the matter of create an art and then we had to role it with the plastic  bag and make sure that you cover it. and then  melting it to get a fully art. It was real good and getting new ideas and also it’s the part of environment conservation. so instead of throwing away the plastic bags they can be used for something else where by at the end of the day you might  generate some income.

DANCING INTO SPACE” DANCE WORK SHOP AT GODOWN ART CENTRE  05/10/2012
It  was all about learning dancing into space where by we learnt about how to dance on a traditional were and at the same to mix the traditional dance ,equipment with modern styles  and combine them into one by your own creative way. Something good came out of it real amazing to now that I  can do something I could never expect.

 FILM/FORUM THEATRE 15/10/2012-17/10/2012
It  was all about making film , by taking  videos and then editing them , we  were in groups where by we went to the movement about the world food day which was prepared by the mount Kenya youth activista with the support of action aid so we had the chance to take videos and making movie ,then we had the time to edit  and then we had the time to present them to other people at daraja.
And to the side of forum theatre people had time to form a play  where a party of this play needs to involve the audience in giving out the ideas and solutions and if possible to take part in a play that the forum theatre is . and also they had a chance to show a play  to people.

VISIT WOMEN GROUP IN NANYUKI 19/10/2012
This group is formed with widows with the aim of helping widows and orphans, they making vio
ndos ,huts ,baskets by using used plastic bags and also making hand crafts like sandals ,bracelets, necklaces. and the  money they are getting is for paying school fees to those orphans kids and for buying food.

UNDERSTANDING DEMOCRACY  INTRODUCTION TO IDP CAMP 22/10/2012
We learnt the meaning of democracy from different perspective or different views from different scholars ,after we understand about democracy then we had a chance to visit the IDP camp . where  by we had a chance to ask them different kind of  question .people  who are staying there are the victims of post election violence 2007 in Kenya .according to they are story the democracy have no were to be found in them.

JOURNALISM  AND THE VISIT OF NANYUKI PRISON 23/10/2012
The session was about preparing  questions for an interview  with the prisoners as the party of journalism  in writing articles  and identifying the kind of  articles are we going to write. After the lesson we had the chance to visit the prison in Nanyuki where by we had the chance to walk around the prison environment and then having an interview with some of  the prisoners  with different kind of articles .
STREET ART GRAFFITI   25/10/2012
It was all about doing art in the street by painting the walls with the aim of creating awareness to the community, information  and knowledge mostly about what is going on in the country politically, socially  and economically. what   they use first is manila cards, you design your art, you cut  and then you put it in a wall and then you spray .
EXCURSION:DEVELOPMENT AID FOOD FOR ASSET OL-DONYIRO 30/10/2012-31/10/2012
This was the place where by  people who lives in the area are the pastoralist ,maasais ,turkanas and samburus , where there were mostly depended on life stocks only(keeping animals)and they had never practiced agricultural  but the Action Aid came with the project of giving an Aid of providing food to these people so these were dependently in been given out the food without been thinking on their own way of fighting hunger ,just seating and waiting the Aid ,then Action Aid decided to change the project by teaching the pastoralist  agricultural system to them so they can produce there own food, so they came into groups in a selected piece of land  and the introduction of different kind of agricultural systems, such as semi secular, tripe  sidebar  etc. due to this program people became not dependent since that in order for you to get food you have to work for it ,and due to this program even at their home they also practice agriculture in those different ways .
This is a good way of helping people to solve their own problem rather than providing everything and let them be dependent.
MIDTERM EVALUATION & INTRODUCTION  TO  PROJECT WEEK   02/11/2012
It was all about giving the feedback from the module 1-3, about everything in our schedules for two months ,what was good ,what was bad, was should be removed  ,what should be added and what should be improved ,all concerning the sessions ,Excursions ,facilities and facilitators .
And about a project week it was about how write the action plan for the project since we are going to have one week project.
PACKING & COOKING WITH LOCAL FAMILIES 03/11/2012
It was a day when we started packing for our travel to Tanzania Arusha and at 3:30p.m we went to the local families for cooking and having supper over the families.
