The life experience in Nairobi

THE VISIT OF KIBERA(KCODA) 04/09/2012

>Kibera  Slum ,Visit to KCODA.

It was a youth group formed by the youth around the area and some of them attended the Global citizen change course  where it helped them to think more globally , having confidence and knows how to communicate in public .the aim of visiting this organization was to know what are they doing and why at the same time sharing ideas and experience from different cultures .so they decided to form a group in order to help they are community from the medias where by they used to spread bad news about the area like fighting ,theft and so on  ,so they dealing with the medias by writing all the goods happening in the area and stopping the bad image of there place . so they used to take photos and they publish there own magazines and they have some time in one of the T.V. Where  they talk and explain what is happening in they are compass.

Apart from the organization we visited around the community where by the  area is surrounded by slums where by the house were made with iron sheet , woods ,very small and no space from the place even for a  car to pass incase of any emergence such as fire or sick person to be taken with an ambulance  ,the area is very dirt , no enough toilets so there is the problem of flying toilets , people are  very poor more than you can imagine ,there is no Tanesco power  because it is very expensive for them,  that means they just connecting power on the own way where it is very dangerous ,not safe because sometime houses are burning and people are dying due  to this power connection and when one house burning it spread faster to other houses since it is slum area.

This area people surrounded by different diseases mostly HIV AIDS but do to this disease unit people together formed groups especially women who are very creative so they are making bags, clothes and handcrafts

The politician from the government abandon this area and live it to NGO’S, and  the president just take the area as Luos place. so no any  effort and support from the government

It is the area where by people are very strong ,creative ,united together, helping each other  no matter tribes differences, active in politics and they like strikes, and it was the place where by the using animals borns  to make different kind of things mostly handctafts.
